Access Supply Chain and Crosby Kitchens win top manufacturing awards

Press Release - Thursday, October 18, 2007

Access Supply Chain customer Crosby Kitchens, has won the coveted Manufacturer Live, ‘IT in Manufacturing’ Award 2007.

The Award, now in its fifth year, was announced to an audience of more than 400 leading manufacturers at a glittering ceremony, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, at Coventry’s RICOH arena. Sheffield-based kitchen manufacturer, Crosby, was named as the winner following rigorous evaluation of a record number of entries by an independent panel of 11 judges, drawn from the worlds of manufacturing industry, academia and industrial journalism.  The judges included Nick Brayshaw OBE, chairman of the CBI Manufacturing Council; Martin Temple CBE, Director General, EEF; and Professor Garel Rhys CBE, of Cardiff University Business School.

Presenting the award, former Editor of The Economist and Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, Rupert Pennant-Rae, said the judges were looking for a company that could show demonstrable benefits from its investment in IT.  “Access Supply Chain, had improved efficiency at Crosby, such that the company was able to enter new markets, increase turnover by 20 percent and grow profits by 100 percent,” he said.

Receiving the Award, Crosby Operations Director, Jim Clark, said: “We’re naturally delighted with this award; it’s the second we’ve won for our use of information technology in recent months and it’s reward for the hard work of a lot of people at the company over a sustained period.”

Craig Such, Managing Director of Access Supply Chain, commented: “It’s well-deserved recognition for Crosby; they took care to implement the Access Supply Chain system in line with their business processes and they are now reaping the rewards of doing that.”
